Incumbent Richard Tobey lost his bid for re-election to former supervisor Hans Lux. Lux received 255 votes, to Tobey’s 188.
Local voters also supported the Washington Island School District referendum authorizing the district’s budget limit to exceed the current revenue limit. The referendum passed 251 to 188.
Martin Andersen was re-elected for his second term as town supervisor. According to town clerk Valerie Carpenter, there were 128 write-in votes for the second open supervisor seat. As election process dictates in this situation, the seat was offered to Richard Tobey with the most write-in votes. Tobey accepted the position.
Lux will be sworn in as chairman and Andersen as supervisor at the annual town meeting on April 20.
Mike Thielke and Bob Wagner were elected to school board positions with 271 and 307 votes respectively.
