Our September home
Dane and I were camp hosts on Rock Island, this past September. Our main job was keeping the popular restroom building—the one with running water and flush toilets—clean and well-stocked for the visitors. All the necessary supplies were in a locked metal closet in the men’s room: spray bottles of disinfectant, scrub brushes, plastic gloves, brooms, and dust pans, along with backups of liquid soap and paper towels.
There were also boxes of wet Swiffer head replacements and a Swiffer mop that neither of us was familiar with. But by nighttime on day one, Dane would be raving nonstop about Swiffers.
